Archery fishing was already a practice several thousand years earlier and was usually done by the ancient Egyptians by using long arrows and shooting it to the fishes. They do archery fishing as a means of acquiring food. Today, archery fishing is widely done as a sport by hunting enthusiasts, targeting not only fishes but even other aquatic creatures like alligators. And unlike any other hunting sport, archery fishing is not regulated by the government so anyone can go and score fish anytime.
Before you go on engaging with archery fishing, be sure to bring the following equipments and choose them carefully so that your experience in the water would be more worthwhile and enjoyable.
Choose the right bows. You can never get on any archery fishing hunt without this so better choose the best type of bow, one which is easy for you to carry and manage. Don't get carried away by the weight of a bow because accuracy does not depend on the bow alone, it has something to do with the force that you exert with it. Also, you should be able to feel if the grip of the bow is comfortable so that you won't end up hurting your palms just so you could aim at the target accurately.
Arrows are nevertheless important because they are the main tool for shooting. Arrows used for archery fishing is different than arrows used for other methods of archery. These kinds of fishing arrows are usually heavier and more durable than ordinary arrows.
Line and Reel is also a basic necessity for fishing because this line-reel system helps you retrieve the fish or the target you have hit. Without these two equipments, you would end up diving in the waters just to claim your prize. The line is the term used for the thread attached to the edge of an arrow so that the retrieval process would be less difficult. It should be strong enough so as to hold both the arrow and its contents and prevent the fish or the target from being lost in the grip. Reels are the one used to facilitate the motion of the line and should be equally strong and durable.
Archery fishing is an experience which every hunter should experience. For novices in this field, it is recommended to hire a guide or a service so that the hunting experience would be more enthralling and educational at the same time.
